Birkirkara dominated from the start and they converted that dominance on the quarter of the hour mark when Haruna Shola-Shodiya chipped the ball over the Stars goalkeeper.

On the half hour mark, it was 2-0 when Avila crossed for Gareth Sciberras to plant a simple header past Ivan Cassar and into the net.

After 56 minutes, Shawn Bajada hit a swerving shot from 30 metres that left Cassar standing stranded.

Avila scored with the last kick of the match when he smashed Trevor Cilia’s cross first time low into the corner.
