Luqa had been waiting for yesterday’s encounter with Floriana due to the clubs’ rivalry in the 40’s but Floriana were no match for the second division side dominating throughout the 90 minutes.

After only two minutes Floriana went close with a header from Sodje but the Luqa goalkeeper made a good save. It took Floriana only another two minutes to go ahead with an Eric Akoto goal. On the 12th Luqa’s goalkeeper Psaila saved a Grabowski shot but the ball ended in Ryan Darmanin’s feet who missed the target.

On the 15th Sodje easily scored after receiving the ball from Darmanin to make it 2-0 for Floriana for the first half.

After the break Floriana continued to show their superiority in the pitch and after going close on several occasions they found the net again on the 62nd and again on the 72nd with Darmanin. Andre’ Grabowski made it 5-0 on 77 minutes and on the 88th a long range shot by Clyde Borg made it six for Floriana.

Luqa found a consolation goal in the closing minutes lobbing the ball over Floriana’s goalkeeper Jurgen Borg in the only Luqa action worthy of note in the game.
