Drink-driving kills. This has been proven. But it was also good to hear that there were no fatal traffic accidents reported on New Year’s Eve. As a parent of adult children, I can tell you that while parents will always worry about their kids on a night out, New Year’s Eve is the one night when we are constantly thinking and wondering whether they have made it home or not. This year it seemed like a lot of people used designated drivers, taxis or public transport and this is positive.

But we must remember that while people should not drink on New Year’s Eve, they should never do so.
