What struck me this year was the sheer lack of reference to New Year’s resolutions. I have never been one to make them as I find that they are too much pressure. But while the papers and the radio waves and television are normally full of reference to them, it seems that the whole concept has gone out of the window.

Not even advertising companies seem to have taken advantage of the usual slogans to flog smoking patches, diet products and whatever else. Well, perhaps the whole world has given up. Or perhaps, we have learned that it is better to along with change when we feel ready for it, rather than force it upon ourselves.
