The moment of truth is drawing close on Dr Franco Debono’s political future.

As has been safely predicted, every counter-party position he has taken up and been given in one way or another has failed to appease him.

Like a petulant child he goes on stamping his feet as he fails to get what he pretends he is not after, which is political preferment.

At the same time he wraps himself up in the colours of a champion liberal democrat challenging all and sundry including his own prime minister and posing as the saviour of democracy in the Republic of Malta.

He seems more like a tin-pot Edmund Burke.
