The Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, Clyde Puli, yesterday presented certificates to all those -athletes and officials - nominated to contest for an award at the SportMalta Awards Night - Ghazliet sportivi nazzjonali which is being organised on 21 January at the MFCC Ta’ Qali.
The event is organised jointly by the Council of Sport (KMS) and the Sports Journalists Association (GhGS).
In a short address to those present, Puli said it was a great pleasure for him to be attending another occasion where sportsmen and sportswomen were being honoured for their successes in the past year.
During his speech, he revealed that work on the national policy for sports for this country was in the process of being finalised.
He also appealed to the athletes to be role models for all youngsters, especially schoolchildren whom they will be meeting in the next few days.
He added: “In fact, these Awards are a good opportunity for both the KMS and the GHGS to create role models working towards anhealthy sporting culture.”
At the end of his short speech, Puli congratulated all those who had been nominated and thanked the KMS and the GHGS for their contribution in pushing the sporting message forward.
The president of the Ghaqda Gurnalisti Sport, Charles Camenzuli, presented plaques to the Parliamentary Secretary Puli, Pippo Psaila, chairman of the organising committee, and to Bernard Vassallo, chairman of the KMS.
