MP Franco Debono seems to think that he’s a gift to the Maltese nation. He’s had an arrogant personality ever since he was a young student, despite lately boasting of his excellent results in Form 2 at St. Aloysius College.
Later his bigheadedness prompted him to dislike the University law course system and he decided not to attend many lectures, suggesting better ways and systems to his superiors. Now that he has become an MP he seems to want to run parliament on his own. He proposed to tell even the Prime Minister what to do. He shifts the goalposts so that he satisfies his arguments.
Debono is so arrogant that he bluntly criticises his colleagues in government and wants to run various portfolios in one go. Despite saying that he would have refused any ministerial appointment, this is not being believed by anyone. His ambitions are so high that he almost pretends to have been appointed prime minister instead of Lawrence Gonzi!
But his days as an MP are numbered as he will definitely not be trusted if ever he contests an election again. Who is going to trust such a boisterous person whose egoism knows no bounds? He might satisfy himself if he brings down the government he has come to hate so much but his political career is doomed for life.
He has commented that it seems that for some people he will not be prepared for a ministry until he is 70 years of age, but I think that he won’t last long in his parliamentary seat! Then he may try his luck in Italy… who knows, maybe he will start challenging Prime Minister Monti!
