Walking On broken glass in Spinola

Malta Independent Sunday, 15 January 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Ryan’s Pub have started a new series of events called Wild West Project, to be held every Sunday at 4pm, during which young people can go and get drunk on a Sunday afternoon. To each his own. Drinking on a Friday and Saturday night doesn’t seem to be enough for the savvy Maltese youth but I guess these kids are old enough to make their own choices as to how they spend their Sundays.

The name Wild West Project is apt. It conjures up images of cowboys, glass throwing, loud cheering and occasional fistfights. In fact every time there is an event at Ryan’s you can be assured that the next day there will be pieces of broken glass all over the place outdoors – on the pavements, across the street, over the wall, in the middle of the road… St Julian’s residents know this scenario only too well, as driving by on any given weekend one risks getting a puncture, let alone what the place must look like on a Monday morning now.

Fine have your party – but if your patrons are not educated enough to refrain from throwing p Pub – you could clean up the mess the next day? Is that too much to ask?

I would like to ask the management of Ryan’s Pub: who are you expecting to clean up your mess each time – the local council? In the meantime we get to walk and drive over the crunch of broken glass thanks to you. Not so cool. It doesn’t look good for your sponsors CISK EXPORT either. Broken bottles strewn here and there don’t make for the best advertising.

You do make sure to clean up inside the premises each time – so perhaps you could take an hour every Sunday and Monday morning to sweep up the glass on the street too?

Looks like it’s gonna be a WILD one...

T.M.O - Take Monday Off

Starting Sundays 8 January at 4pm

Sure thing. Yes, please do take Mondays off and volunteer to help Ryan’s Pub clean up the glass! They seem to need an extra hand or two to manage their pub efficiently.
