Trading activity during Monday’s session on the Malta Stock Exchange saw the MSE Index drop by 0.5 percent, to close at the 3,091.136 level. In the equity market, the MSE saw twenty seven deals involving an aggregate of 26,560 shares that changed hands, with three equities reporting activity during the session.
Bank of Valletta plc registered the majority of the deals during the session, with 20 deals concluded in its shares, for a total of 15,276 shares. Total market value associated with this equity amounted to €51,137. BOV’s share price dropped by 1.3 percent, or 3c0 to reach €2.260 by the end of trading.
HSBC Bank Malta Plc registered a volume of 3,684 shares, which changed hands through four trades. HSBC shares closed the session at €2.551, a drop of 1c9 or 0.7 percent.
GO Plc was the only share that saw its price improve during Monday’s session, albeit by 0c5, through three deals involving a volume of 7,600 shares. GO shares closed the session at €0.900.
In the fixed income sector of the market, activity was spread across eight corporate bonds and eleven government stocks. In the corporate bond market, two bonds reported an increase in price, while six others remained at unchanged. Out of the corporate bonds that reported an increase in price, the 6.25% International Hotel Investments Plc 2017-2020 registered the highest, which amounted to an increase of 1.0 percent or €1.00 on the previous price, through a sole deal and closed the session at €101.00. The 4.6% HSBC Bank Malta Plc 2017 registered an increase of 0.09% or €0.09 through two deals, to reach €103.10 by the close of the session.
In the government bond market, the highest gainer was in the 6.6% MGS 2019 which reported a gain of 0.4percent or €0.47 from the previous session’s close, to reach €117.69 through a sole transaction involving a nominal amount of €233. The government bond market reported a rather subdued session, with six bonds registering a drop in price, with the worse hit being the 7.8% MGS 2013, which reported a drop of 0.2% or €0.270 to reach a price of €109.990.
