Dr Kirill Micallef Stafrace, President of the Maltese Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine (MASEM), has recently attended the International Federation of Sports Medicine’s (FIMS) Council of Delegates in Austria.

During this meeting various issues were discussed including the inauguration of the new FIMS offices in Lausanne.

At the end of the meeting it was announced that Dr Kirill Micallef Stafrace was to be inducted as a Fellow of FIMS, a prestigious honour since only 35 sports medicine doctors have been elected worldwide since the inception of this award.

The fellowship programme of the International Federation of Sports Medicine (FFIMS) is designed to grant special status to individuals with outstanding professional qualifications who have made important contributions to the field of sports medicine and Fellow status is only granted if certain stringent criteria are fulfilled.
