We are right in the middle of a political crisis, triggered by the aspirations of a politician, when all we should be doing is concentrate on the economic situation.
It is a pity that Malta will probably have to face the challenge and tension of an election at a time when all hands should be on deck to see that the country overcomes the hurdles that the economic recession has brought about.
So far, we have managed to ride the storm, but I think that an election at this time will push Malta on the brink of disaster.
Nationalist MP Francis Zammit Dimech put everything in context on a recent TV programme, when he said that a foreign ambassador cannot explain to his Foreign Minister why Malta is in a crisis when it has no unemployment problems and no riots in the streets.
We should put everything into perspective. Look at what other countries are experiencing, and make comparisons with our standard of life.
