Mosta had to fight quite hard to overturn the spirited resistance offered by Gozitan team Xewkija Tigers in the Last Sixteen of the FA Trophy eventually ending up 3-1 winners.

It was Mosta who came out on the offensive and threatened after 18 minutes with a good shot by Kibona ending up just wide. This was followed by a freekivk taken by Dyakov for xewkija which ended up just wide.

On 23 minutes, Mosta ended up with 10 men when Ossok was given his marching orders after felling a xewkija player in the box. From the spot, Chris Camilleri put the Gozitans in the lead much to the joy of their numerous contingent.

After 32 minutes, Mosta equalized when from a corner by Zammit, Magro managed to head home from close range. Three minutes later, Mosta managed to take the lead albeit with ten men when Ian Zammit’s free kick was partially saved by Parnis with Raimy smashing home the rebound.

On 38 minutes, Xewkija managed to react with a fine free kick by Dyakov but Zammit saved well.

At the start of the second half, Xewkija attempted to draw level and came close on 53 minutes with an effort by Camilleri which went just wide. However on 57 minutes, Mosta increased their lead when from a cross by Obifuele, Kibona smashed home and easily beat Parnis.

On 79 minutes, Xewkija had a good chance to reduce the deficit but Camilleri’s shot ended up just wide. Mosta closed on 85 minutes with a fine effort by ibona which was well saved by Parnis but by that time they were home and dry.
