Etienne Barbara is on the verge of signing with MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps, he has confirmed.

The 29-year old Malta international is set to reunite with former Carolina RailHawks boss Martin Rennie who is now the head coach at Vancouver.

Barbara, who netted 20 goals for the RailHawks in the North American Soccer League last season, is training with the Whitecaps and very close to agreeing a deal.

“I’m here to discuss the contract and train with the team for now,” Barbara said. “We’re finalising the last little bit so we can just put the contract on paper.”
