I have just got back indoors after having waited for over an hour for the number 41 bus, only for five number 221s to pull up. I finally asked the driver of the fifth one where the number 41 was. I got a shrug of the shoulder, as if to say: ‘how should I know’, and at this point I decided to give up and go back home.
But then, to our amazement, a 41 drew in to the stop. One person got off but no one was allowed on it as it was full to the brim to the point of the doors having trouble opening. Apart from anything else this is dangerous and the bus was definitely over loaded.
On getting home I phoned Arriva on the 2122-2000 customer care-line.
I spoke to a polite young lady explaining my problem, to which she replied that the 41 passes through St Paul’s Bay every half hour.
I could not make her understand that I had stood for over one hour and the only buses which passed were five empty number 221 buses.
When she finally told me it that it was Transport Malta’s fault (as they arranged the routes) I could not make her understand that I was not complaining about the route, but the lack of number 41 buses and their not turning up on time.
This is the second time I have had to phone and cancel my 10am appointments on a Wednesday. It is beyond a joke.
We get a lot of tourists in St Paul’s Bay and I shudder to think of the chaos that is to come.
