According to the Department of Information write-up, Minister Mario de Marco launched on 25 January the EU Life+ Investing in Water Project. I am referring to the first paragraph of the article in The Malta Independent of 27 January, titled ‘Minister de Marco launches EU LIFE+ Investing in Water Project’.
The event, according to the write-up, was attended by representatives from businesses and hotels that are being offered help to save water.
It is an interesting write-up. Interesting for more than the information it supplies on water. Indeed, the last paragraph is the most interesting: It says: “The project started in October 2011 and will run until March 2014.”
So the newly-appointed minister de Marco, possibly facing a snap general election, is taking credit by “launching” a project that started in October, 2011.
Truly, an election must be in the offing. And our Minister-politicians do not mind taking credit for someone else’s work. As they did not mind, I guess, taking the rapacious €600 weekly increase in salary, scaled down after two years to €500 a week, because of embarrassment, and now scrapped altogether, because of even more embarrassment – but only until the next election, if they are re-elected, when they will again be voting for it.
While we, the low-down, hard-to-do voters, have to find the wherewithal to pay our bills.
