Rabat 2

White Hart 2

Umpires: Raymond Micallef, Andre Ghio

An intriguing match which saw White Hart take a two-goal lead only for Rabat to level the score right at the end of the match.

After exchanging penalty corners early on, in the 8th minute, Paul Torpiano shot White Hart into the lead finishing off a flowing move.

After a period of play when marking was tight and midfielders dominated proceedings, in the 23rd minute White Hart had a shot deflected past the post by a defender.

They won two penalty corners in succession and in the 25th minute they went further ahead when Paul Torpiano scored again as a result of another penalty corner action.

This jerked Rabat into action and in the 30th minute they reduced the arrears when, as a result of only their second penalty corner award, Shawn Falzon scored with a shot that went into the net like a bullet.

Rabat dominated the early part of the second half and were awarded five penalty corners by the 60th minute but to no avail.

However a minute later they were awarded a penalty stroke which produced a tremendous save by the White Hart custodian Robert Vassallo Agius diving full length to save off Jason Azzopardi’s effort.

Both teams went close to adding to their tally with both goalkeepers smothering one on one situations but in the 67th minute Rabat equalised through Michael Galea after prolonged action inside the D.
