Snooker: Former Association president Joe Zammit passes away

The death was announced yesterday of Joe Zammit, a well known and respected personality in the billiards and snooker circles.

Zammit had also acted as president of the MBSA for a few years.

Joe had a long amicable and enthusiastic working relationship even with the ruling body of the game, the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association, which has been instrumental for the staging in Malta of a number of high status snooker tournaments including a number of world ranking events.

Zammit, who was 66 years old, passed away yesterday at he Mater Dei Hospital. A Mass praesente cadavere will be said today at the Gzira parish church at 2pm followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

Lord, grant him eternal rest.
