White Hart recorded their first win of the season in a close encounter with both teams creating but not availing themselves of goal scoring chances in the first half.

After a period of Hotsticks pressure, around the half way mark, White Hart countered by having a shot which just went wide.

They went ahead in the 29th minute when Keith Laferla converted a penalty stroke in fine style. Hotsticks pressed for the remaining period of the first half but the score remained unchanged.

Hotsticks attacked strongly after the break and reduced the arrears in the 39th minute through Lucas Plaehn.

In the 54th minute Karl Tua scored for White Hart after a lenghty action in the D to put his team 2 -1 ahead. They pressed further and had a shot cleared off the line two minutes later.

Hotsticks did not give up but pushed White Hart back on defence for the last few minutes but were unable to alter the score of the game.

The game kicked off at a frantic tempo which continued right through the first half.

In the 10th minute, Rabat won a penalty corner which led to the Young Stars goalkeeper, James Mizzi to save two shots at point blank range denying Rabat of taking the lead.

Tight marking in midfield prevented forward play but in the 18th minute Joseph Dalli shot Young Stars ahead following a good move.

After several minutes of balanced play, Rabat equalised in the 29th minute when Josef Antonelli found the net meeting a cross from the right.

The second half produced one of the best periods of hockey that have been played this season,with both teams going hammer and thongs at each other when the technical side of hockey was at its best.

In the 45th minute Edward Hughes shot Young Stars ahead after a prolonged action in the D.

Rabat reacted strongly and forced six short corners, but Young Stars held firm.
