The next horse-racing meeting will be held at the Marsa racetrack next Sunday, with an 11-race card starting at 1.30pm.

Trot races will be on the 2,140m distance, the main attraction being the Assikura Championship finals for trotters originating in countries other than France and Sweden.

The first final is for Category B, with a ten horse line-up, including various horses in the Silver class, and some coming from excellent wins or good places.

The Category A final includes the championship’s top ten horses, nearly all of which race in the Premier or Gold class, including semi-finals winners and runners-up Indian Attack, Knockout Molar, Count of Life and Silver Boko.

No less than three Premier class races are on the card to allow these horses a week’s break prior to the start of the Tazza l-Kbira, Malta’s most prestigious trot championship.

These include horses which won their last race, such as Nabab du Chatelet, Nuage de Bourgogne and Label Chouan, various popular trotters making their return to the track after a period of absence such as Mark de Chamant, Oscarina and Niky du Donjon and a number of newcomers.

The Gold class race features horses which are on the doorstep of the Premier class, including recent winners Oscar de la Vallee, Orlando Tejy and others.

We also have an interesting class A flat race on the long 2,250m distance with various popular thoroughbreds and a newcomer.

No doubt, a varied race card which guarantees an enjoyable afternoon at the racecourse.
