Luqa St Andrews 1
Luqa St Andrews made a huge surprise when they beat Gharghur 1-0 with a goal in the dying minutes. This win keeps Luqa with a chance to keep their second division status while Gharghur suffered a blow in their remote chances for promotion.
The first half was a balanced affair with Luqa having the best chances but the second half was one way traffic with Gharghur dominating the game. But Luqa defended bravely and scored in the stoppage time in a rare second half attack.
Luqa started well and had two shots off target from Lawrence Vella and Jason Good in the first eight minutes. After these two shots, the game was played in midfield with both teams reducing their gaps with the only way forward being the through-balls.
Gharghur tried to open the score on the 23rd minute when Beppe Antignolo’s shot finished over the bar. Gharghur now were adding to their game and Gatt denied a shot from Grozev on the 32nd minute. Luqa had a chance to take the lead a minute later when Lee Baldacchino lobbed over Spiteri but the ball finished over the bar.
Gharghur were despeate to find the goal and on the 47th minute a powerful shot from Grozev finished over the bar. They were unlucky when two minutes later, Carl Azzopardi hit the woodwork with a good shot from outside the box.
Gharhgur continued with their domination and four minutes later they had a good chance when Perry Acton crossed from the left where Grozev was alone but from the box he shot wide for an incredible miss.
Luqa threatened the posts for the first time in the second half when Lee Baldacchino recieved a good ball, advanced and came face to face with Spiteri but shot out.
Gharghur continued to pile the pressure and Iliev passed to Grozev but again shot off target.
Luqa scored the winning goal on the 91st minute when a good counter attack resulted in a pass on the left to Christian Caruana and after advancing, he beat Spiteri with a low shot to the dissapointment of the Gharghur players.

Siggiewi took three important points when they beat Attard in an encounter from the lower table. Siggiewi deserved their win because they were the better team throughout the 90 minutes and now they lie in a more comfortable position in the table while Attard are in a more dangerous place as they are in the drop zone.
The first chance came to Attard when Vella saved a shot from close range by Mohammed on the 11th minute. Attard had another chance on the 25th minute when again it was Vella who denied Darren Galea with a save, turning the ball into a corner.
Siggiewi took the lead on the 37th minute when from a corner by Kim Buhagiar, Mark Camilleri headed past Cini. Attard made a reaction and a shot from Darren Galea was saved by Vella.
Siggiewi continued where they left in the first half and had two shots from Jason Camilleri that went both off target.
Siggiewi continued to be the better team and it was no surprise that they doubled their lead on the 71st minute when Mark Camilleri headed in again after a corner by Buhagiar in an identical action.
Attard reduced the gap on the 76th minute when substitute Nigel Spiteri was fouled in the box by Vella. Kurt Zahra made no mistake from the spot.
Siggiewi regained their two-goal cushion when capatain Rodrick Farrugia concluded from close range after a cross by Buhagiar.
