As was expected, Fgura gained an easy win over Kalkara with the comfortable score of 5-2, thus keeping the pace with leaders Pembroke and securing their second spot on the standings with 39 points.

Their hopes for promotion are now becoming a reality.

Fgura opened the scoring 10 minutes into the match, when following a good action between Goncalves Severino and Vella, the latter passed towards Michael Zammit who tapped the ball at the back of the net.

On 37 minutes, Ricardo Goncalves Severino fled the opposing defence from the middle of the pitch and beat goalkeeper Azzopardi with a low shot.

Five minutes into the second half, Fgura made them three, when following another good combination between Goncalves Severino and Lydon Vella, it was Vella who found the corner of the net.

Four minutes later, Kalkara pulled one back when following a mistake by Fgura’s defence, Musha Abduljawed surprised goalkeeper Attard with a lovely shot from an acute angle.

On 60 minutes, Fgura were awrarded a penalty when Cachia was seen fouling Zahra in the area, and from the spot, Ricardo Goncalves Severino hit home.

Seven minutes from time, Cachia chipped a perfect pass towards Ricardo Goncalves Severino who was unmarked in the area, who in turn chipped the ball over the goalkeeper and at the back of the net.

Just a few seconds from stoppage time, Musha Abduljawed surprised Fgura’s defence a second time and beat goalkeeper Attard with a low shot.

Despite being forced to play with 10 men for 45 minutes or so, Pembroke continued their triumphant progress this season.

They beat Sirens 0-2, thus maintaining the record of not having ever lost a match this season, where they are still at the summit of the standings with 45 points.

Sirens were rarely offensive and gave goalkeeper Calleja Cremona very little to do. They were close to opening the score on 25 minutes, when after a good run from the centre of the pitch, Martinovic’s shot skimmed the crossbar.

Five minutes before the break, Pembroke were down to 10, when Jean Claude Borg was sent off for a nasty foul on Theuma.

Pembroke opened the scoring on 50 minutes, when from a direct freekick from outside the area, Vojko Martinovic put the ball at the back of the net.

Barely two minute later, Pembroke sealed their win, when Adrian Galea made the most of an error in the opposing defence and tapped the ball at the back of the net.
