After Sunday’s brilliant start to the Tazza l-Kbira, two interesting horse-racing meetings with eight races on each card will be held this weekend. The first will be today at 6.30pm and then on Sunday at 1.30pm.
These involve sprint races (on 1,640m for trotters and 1,250m for thoroughbreds), with horses racing at top speed throughout the race, thus resulting in fast, spectacular performances.
The main attractions are four Gold class races in Sunday’s meeting, featuring various in-form horses.
These include Nicos de Peneme coming from two wins and two places, She’s Dreamlike with three wins from three races, as well as recent winners Orlando Tejy, Oscar Mati, Zilver Boko, Matador Knick, Osiris de Kids, Oviedo du Sam and many others. Various horses are worthy of promotion to Malta’s top class.
Today’s programme includes an exciting Class A flat race with well-known names such as Darielli, coming from a splendid win, last year’s Coronation Cup winner Fyelehk, Exotique Challenge Cup winner and Coronation Cup runner-up Cheeky Jack and five other promising horses.
There will be six interesting Silver class races, with today’s penultimate race involving trotters on the doorstep of the Gold class, many of which are coming from recent good places, such as Schejken Bill, Notice As, Lovely Mab and others.
With the approach of spring, milder weather and many balanced races should provide some pleasant afternoons at the racecourse.
