On Friday the Malta Stock Exchange Index gained 0.6% and closed at 3,004.808 points. In the equity market three equities were negotiated across 19 deals for a total value of €54,323. A total of 66 transactions were carried out for a total value of €9,650,322 during the day.
In the equity market Bank of Valletta plc was the best performer as its share price appreciated by 1.4% to €2.15 on 11 deals for a total volume of 10,830 shares. HSBC Bank Malta plc gained 1.3% and closed at €2.635 as 10,400 shares were negotiated across four deals. Meanwhile GO plc was the only equity with a negative performance as its share price dropped by 1.4% to €0.838 as 4,790 shares changed hands across four transactions.
In the corporate bond market 17 transactions were carried out as eight bonds were negotiated for a total value of €1,010,716. One was positive, three were negative and four remained stable. The 7.15% Melita Capital 2014/16 was the only positive performer as its price appreciated by 0.6% to €101.060 on a single deal of 5,000. On the other hand the 7.15% Mediterranean Investments Holding 2015/17 lost most ground as its price dropped by 1% to €99.000 on two deals for a total volume of 8,000. The other negative bonds were the 4.8% Bank of Valletta 2018 and the 7% MIDI 2016/18.
In the government bond market 29 transactions were carried out across 19 bonds for a total value of €8,085,494. One was positive, 14 were negative and four remained stable. The 5.9 % MGS 2015 II was the only positive performer of the day as its price appreciated by 0.04% to €110.930 on a single deal of 10,017. Meanwhile the 4.8% MGS 2016 II lost most ground as its price dropped by 0.3% to €106.760 on a single deal of 10,141.
