“To be really honest, we are doing much better than we ever anticipated”. These are the words of Warren Muscat, the Agones Sfc president, who added that Agones ‘Orchid’ is now becoming a more solid and organised team, with great potential for the future.

During the first few weeks of racing in local competitions, in the mountain bike and road races, the team has obtained nine podiums, five in the female section and four in the male sector.

In fact, Donatelle Camilleri has obtained four podiums, while Caroline Zammit has gained one.

On the other hand in the sport categories, Oswin Farrugia has been twice on the podium, while Steven Giordano Imbroll and Cliff Sultana have gained one podium each.

Over these last few weeks, the team has participated in a number of road races, including the Qormi time trial, the Zebbug By Pass road race and the Team time trial. Moreover, the Agones ‘Orchid’ team has participated in the three Mountain Bike competitions organised by the Mounatain Bike Association.

Warren Muscat added that during the Mountain Bike competitions, the team has had the biggest number of participants.

In the team time trial race, to everyone’s surprise, the team managed to overcome more established teams that have been taking part in such competitions for a number of years.

The Agones Sfc president has revealed that the team is working on launching its competitive triathlon team for the best possible results in the triathlon sector. Under the guidance of former Ironman Cliff Sultana, and with a mix of established athletes and young promising talents in the team’s ranks, such as Ryan Saliba and Neil Markham, the triathlon team is promising to be a power house from the first season.

Stefan Gauci Scicluna, the owner of Orchid Health and Beauty Centre, reiterated the sponsorship’s commitment in pushing further the potential of this young team which is giving example to others in showing lots of enthusiasm and determination in becoming a stronger team. Along with Warren Muscat, he also encouraged more people to join the team in order to enjoy cycling.

Agones ‘Orchid’ Cycling team is currently organising a number of activities in different localities around Malta, whereby kids are being encouraged to participate in cycling at their very own locality.
