Malta will be taking part in the Wales Open Championships next month.

Also participating will be Wales, the Great Britain Team, Scotland and Ireland. This tournament will be similar to that held in Malta last December which was won by the host country.

The Maltese contingent will consist of two officials and seven wrestlers.

It has been quite a long time since the Maltese federation will be sending such a big contingent made up of official Kenneth Vella and national coach Jesmond Giordimaina as well as wrestlers Gary Giordimaina (Schoolboy 47kg), Adam Vella (Senior 60 kg), David Zammit (Senior 66kg), Andrea Saliba (Senior 74kg), George Vassallo (Senior 74kg), Abraham Vassallo (Senior 84kg) and Aidan Buhagiar (Senior 96kg).

Vella and Buhagiar will be returning on the mat after being on the injured list during the Malta Open Championships last December.

The two veteran wrestlers - brothers Abraham and George Vassallo - will be quite a boost for the other Maltese wrestlers.
