MSE Drops by 0.9%

On Friday the MSE Index dropped by 0.9 per cent to 2960.079 as six equities were negotiated across 21 deals for a total value of €166,679. Four equities were negative and two remained stable.

Malta International Airport plc dropped by the least as its share price lost 0.6 per cent to €1.679 on a single deal of 300 shares.

Meanwhile GO plc lost most ground as its share price dropped by 9.3 per cent to €0.760 on four deals for a total volume of 19,130 shares.

International Hotel Investments plc saw its share price drop by 1.3 per cent to €0.750 as 26,513 shares changed hands across three deals.

In the banking sector the share price of HSBC Bank Malta plc dropped by 1.1 per cent to €2.550 as 23,635 shares were negotiated across five deals. Meanwhile both the share prices of Bank of Valletta plc and of FIMBank plc remained stable.

In the corporate bond market 11 bonds were negotiated for a total value of €181,938. The 6% Gasan Finance 2014/16 was the best performer during the session as its price appreciated by 0.4 per cent to €102.500 on a single deal of 15,000. The other positive bonds were the 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holdings 2012/14, the 7.15% Melita Capital 2014/16, the 5.35% Bank of Valletta 2019 and the 6.6% Eden Finance 2017/20. The 7.15% Mediterranean Investments Holding 2015/17 lost most ground as its price dropped by 0.9 per cent to €99.010 on two deals with a total volume of 8,000. The other negative bonds were the 6% Dolmen Properties 2010/13 and the 6.75% United Finance 2014/16.

In the government bond market 11 bonds were negotiated across 19 deals for a total value of €1,165,545. Two bonds were positive, five were negative and four remained stable. The 5.25% MGS 2030 was the best performer as its price gained 0.1 per cent to €101.630 on a single deal of 15,000. The other positive bond was the 5.7% MGS 2012 III. Meanwhile the 5.5% MGS 2023 lost most ground as its price dropped by 0.2 per cent to €109.230 on a single deal of 4,659.
