The major road works that are taking place in the heart of Victoria inevitably create disruptions and inconveniences. The digging of wide trenches has resulted in huge amounts of dust which is invading people’s homes. As one lady said, “We eat dust; we drink dust; we breathe dust.’’
For people suffering from asthma and similar health problems, it is a real purgatory. The Victoria local council can easily see to the mitigation of these dust storms, a serious health hazard. All it takes is a couple of bowsers of sea water to flush down this dust. I hope the council does its bit to make life easier for the residents of Republic Street and the surrounding area.
