Spring ‘rage’

Malta Independent Sunday, 25 March 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Malta Association of Small Shareholders notes that a number of companies quoted on the Malta Stock Exchange have declared that their profits of the last year have been much lower than in previous years or, in some cases, that they have made no profit at all.

This is taking place when the overheads as shown in these companies’ books are always increasing and the allowances paid to CEOs, directors and other Heads are in certain cases phenomenal.

The dividends that are being paid to the hundreds, if not thousands of shareholders, are poor and in some cases no dividends are being paid at all. Understandably, this is leading to a lot grumbling and anger among the shareholders, as was shown last week at the annual general meeting of Valletta Fund Management Ltd.
