Malta should have opted to have a (proper) Valletta logo design on a few of Ryanair’s fleet instead... after all, the mud work on the Air Malta Airbus was subcontracted to a Shannon-based Irish company, just another Irish pocket.

Being an Airbus A320, it’s going to be limited to three or four regular routes whose travellers have probably been to Malta a few times already in the past.

Unless the intended ‘scheme’ reaches new potential tourists, I don’t see it making any tangible contribution to our economy

It would have served a better purpose to have the design on an Air Malta A319 or two as they are rotated around, used on charter flights to less well-known destinations as there’s more of them in the fleet.

After all, what’s the use of informing the plane spotters in Brussels and Heathrow or Gatwick that Valletta is bidding to be The Culture Capital of Europe in 2018? They don’t really care. All it does matter is that the logo ends up in pictures on a couple of websites, gets its comments for poor artwork and will then be forgotten for good.
