As from the beginning of this year the Taekwondo Dragon Club has moved from Mosta to its current headquarters in St Venera. At present the club is holding additional classes for all ages from Monday to Saturday. Lessons are also held twice a week at Inspire, Marsascala.
Moreover, the club is going to expand its services by introducing fitness and self-defence classes to its current schedule in the mornings and evenings. Therefore, the Taekwondo Dragon Club will fall under the umbrella of Motionzone – a new entity that will offer a range of sports activities in addition to taekwondo.
During the month of January, the club took part in a charity event in aid of Puttinu Cares with the name of Rock Bands vs Martial Arts where students had the opportunity to display what they have learnt so far by demonstrating the aspects of Taekwondo.
On Saturday the club will be taking part in a similar event, this time at Inspire, Marsascala, for another good cause. The event is open to all who wish to join and try out taekwondo. Those interested to participate are encouraged to be there between 10am and 11am and from 2pm to 3pm. Special offers are available on the day.
The first Taekwondo Promotion tests for this year were held on Saturday 25 February at the club’s new head quarters in St Venera. A total number of 36 candidates underwent their examinations. As usual, candidates were tested on their respective syllabus. All candidates successfully passed to their successive rank as follows:
2nd Kup (Red Belt): Mauro Busuttil
3rd Kup (Red Tab): Gianluca Barbara
4th Kup (Blue Belt): Kyle Vassallo, Shania Maria Magro and Kylie Magro
5th Kup (Blue Tab): Jean Paul Baldacchino, Christian Sant and Diane Fenech
6th Kup (Green Belt): James Aquilina
7th Kup (Green Tab): Rachel Mifsud and Julie Ann Camilleri
