Malta Independent Wednesday, 28 March 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Sunday sees the Island Car Club drivers returning to Mtahleb, limits of Rabat ,for the second round of the 2012 Hillclimb Championship.

Will Zach Zammit, in his Ralt Jagger, make it two victories in a row?

The Mtaħleb Hillclimb is popular with Maltese motorsport, having been host to regular races in the 60s and 70s. The road boasted a superior level of construction that made it unique, including various corners many of which are banked, elevating this excellent road to iconic status.

The championship is wide open and spectators are sure to witness competitive driving up one of Malta’s most technical hills.

Italian drivers will also be participating in this popular hillclimb and the club, in conjunction with the Rabat Local council, are organising a live prize winning celebration after the race.

In a statement, the ICC thanked the Rabat Mayor Sandro Craus, and Rabat Motorsport Committee for their continued support.

This year’s event will be held this Sunday with the first runs starting at 9am.
