A new page in the history of shooting sport for Malta was written today when both Maltese double trap shooters William Chetcuti and Nathan lee Xuereb qualified in the barrage finals at The ISSF World Cup, Tucson USA 2012. This was a great achievment where they had to compete amoung the best double trap shooters in the world.

William Chetcuti managed 49/50 in his first round, followed by a perfect straight of 50/50 and 48/50 in his third round, for a total of 147/150 to qualify for the barrage finals where he managed 47/50 to win The Silver Medal with 194/200

Nathan Lee Xuereb, being only fifteen years old competed amoung the top senior shooters made an impressive shoot, when he managed 46/50, 48/50 and an impeccable straight of 50/50 for a total of 144/150 to qualify for the barage finals, where he managed 47/50, for a total of 191/200 to place 4th overall. It was such an honour for their coach Jimmy Bugeja that both his shooters made it to the barrage finals.

Wilson Peter Robert Russel of Great Britain placed 1st with 148+50=198/200 (Equal World Record)

William Chetcuti from Malta placed 2nd with 147+47=194/200

Richmond Joshua from USA placed 3rd with 143+50=193/200

Nathan Lee Xuereb from Malta placed 4th with 144+47=191/200

Leoew Andreas from Germany placed 5th with 145+46=191/200

Al Deehani Fahaid from Kuwait placed 6th with 145+45=190/200
