U-18 European Tournament at Tennis Club Kordin

For the second consecutive year, the Tennis Club Kordin, in collaboration with the Malta Tennis Federation is hosting this year’s U-18 tennis European tournament.

Since this tournament is part of the Under 18 Tour of International Tennis Federation, it has once again attracted a significant number of players not only from Europe but from all over the world.

The number of participants this year is outstanding with a total of 556 players; 342 of which are boys and 214 girls. These players come from 58 different countries namely Europe, Australia, The United States, Canada, Brazil, and Japan amongst others.

For yet another year, this European tournament is expected to be of an exceptionally high level having the best ranked players reaching 252 in Europe in the boys’ category with Christos Hadjigeorgiou from Cyprus and the 226 ranked girl Britt Geukens from Belgium

Malta will be represented by some of the island’s best youngsters. In the boys category the Maltese team will consist of Bernard Cassar Torreggiani, Raphael Sammut, Matthew Cassar Torreggiani, Robert Montanaro Gauci, Jeremy Borg and Zach Ciappara . The girls team is made up of Brenda Galea, Rebecca Mccarthy, Alexia Cassar, and Giorgia Farrugia Sacco.

The tournament will commence with the qualifying rounds being played on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 April. Signing in for this draw will take place on Friday 6 April.

Signing in for the main draw is to be held on Sunday 8 April with the Main draw matches starting on Monday 9 April and ending with the final on Saturday 14 April.

On Monday 9 April players are to sign in for the doubles draw, with the matches starting on Tuesday 10 April.
