Malta Independent Saturday, 7 April 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

After last weekend’s great racing, particularly with Mig of the Wood’s triumph in the Dragonara Casino Tazza l-Kbira and Raymond Clifton’s win in the Malta leg of the Mediterranean Horse Racing Union’s drivers’ championship, racing returns tomorrow with an all-trot eight race card starting at 2pm.

This is dominated by a Consolation Final for Tazza l-Kbira unqualified semi-finalists on a 2,640m distance and five balanced Condition race finals on 2,140m.

The Dragonara Casino Tazza l-Kbira Consolation Final includes eight well-known Premier (plus one Gold) class trotters hailing from France, Italy and Sweden aged between 11 and 15 years. This groups seasoned performers with recent imports. The field consists of Nasko Pride, Nagano Phedo, Normand d’Oger, Lou Petiot, Energy Launcher, Bello Fratello, Eastwood OM and Noble d’Ete.

The Fairplay Bingo Gold class final has 10 participants hailing from four different countries. These include horses such as Oviedo du Sam and Zilver Boko coming from two wins and a place, Nicos de Peneme and Oscar Mati having two wins in their last three races, Galileo Bisa with a win and two places recently and all the others.

Both the Vida Silver A (nine participants) and the TRM Silver B (eight finalists) class finals feature various horses which have recently shown their good form, such as Prince du Moutier, Confidence As, Lovely Mab, Lonestar Somolli, Oregon de la Foret and others.

The other finals are for the Bronze and Copper classes, sponsored by Finish Line and Paul & Shark respectively.
