Following a series of positive performances in Futsal matches abroad, UEFA has promoted FIFA Futsal referee Franco Cachia to Category 1 on the UEFA list of Futsal international referees.

Franco Cachia’s latest promotion comes as no surprise, as in the past year he has continued to establish himself as one of the best Futsal referees in Europe by obtaining high assessment marks from various UEFA Referee Observers in prestigious appointments, such as qualification matches in EURO and World Cup main rounds, and Futsal Champions Cup.

His next international appointment is a FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012 play-off match between Italy and Norway, to be played today, at the Pala San Giacomo Stadium in Bari, Italy.

Franco Cachia will be Referee 2, while the other officials for this match will be Petros Panayides (Cyprus) as Referee 1, Antonis Konstantinides (Cyprus) as 3rd Official, and Angelo Galante (Italy) as Timekeeper.

Messrs Victor Beceiro (Spain) and Stefan Tivold (Slovenia) will act as UEFA Delegate and Referee Observer respectively.

This match will be televised live at 8.30pm on RAI Sport.
