The first heats from the Skyparks Swedish trotters’ championship and two Premier class races are the highlights of next Sunday’s 11 race card at the Marsa racetrack, starting at 2pm.
This is the fourth edition of the championship reserved for Swedish trotters, with a championship for each class on a 2,140m distance, aimed at crowning the best horses originating in Sweden, one of the European trot superpowers.
Next Sunday we will see four heats for the Silver class, with the first five horses from each qualifying for the semi-finals, being held a week later together with those for the other classes.
The two Premier class races on the marathon 3,140m distance are also very interesting. Both include recent Dragonara Tazza l-Kbira finalists such as Label Chouan, Troy Boshoeve and Ouest du Vivier in the first and Nabab du Chatelet, Nuage de Bourgogne and Nelson du Val in the second.
They also include other horses coming from good wins or places, such as Nasko Pride, Normand d’Oger and Noble d’Ete which claimed the first three places in last week’s Tazza l-Kbira Consolation final and recent winners or runners-up Count of Life, Nono de Crouay and Nuper, as well as two newcomers.
The race card also includes a flat race with six registered horses, including current Mediterranean Derby holder Buttermilk, all of which are looking for a win that has been eluding them for some time.
So, a new championship and variety in the racing fare should provide another entertaining Sunday afternoon at the racetrack.
