A slight correction to the article ‘Malta commemorates 70th anniversary of bravery award’, whereby it is stated that the George Cross is “second only in ranking to the Victoria Cross”.
In truth, the George Cross is only second to the Victoria Cross in order of wear: The two decorations are the joint highest awards for bravery in the UK. Put simply, one may consider the George Cross as the “civilian” version of the Victoria Cross, a military decoration.
