The International Yacht Paint double handed Round Malta Race, organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club with the support of MacMed Co ltd, local agents for International Yacht Paint, took off to a good start on Saturday from the start line under Fort St. Elmo.

A fleet of 17 boats, divided into a cruiser class and two racer classes, competed in the race.

The boats were sent on a clockwise course round Malta in near perfect sailing conditions with a steady breeze that made for a quick race.

After some competitive but enjoyable sailing all boats had crossed the finish line at the Royal Malta Yacht Club by late afternoon.

Anthony Camilleri, on Windward, was first in the cruising class and first overall.

Jonathan Gambin, on Ton Ton, won Racer Class 1 while Anthony Miggiani, on Jaw Breaker, the smallest boat in the fleet, was first in Racer class 2.

The final Prize Giving ceremony is to take place today at the RMYC at 8pm.
