Two Spanish teams will contest the final of this year’s competition as a result of yesterday’s matches.

Atletico Madrid completed a 5-2 aggregate win against Valencia while Athletic Bilbao scored a late third goal to beat Sporting Lisbon 3-1 for a 4-3 aggregate win.

The two teams now meet in the 9 May final in Bucharest, Romania.

Llorente scored in the 88th minute to put Athletic Bilbao 3-1 ahead against Sporting when everything pointed to extra time. Until then it had been 3-3 on aggregate.

Earlier, Llorente set up two first half goals which enabled the home side to overcome a first leg 2-1 deficit.

He set up scores by Markel Susaeta and Ibai Gomez, while Ricky van Wolfswinkel scored for Sporting to keep the result in doubt until the Spain striker’s dramatic goal.

Valencia pushed hared in the first half against Atletico Madrid to try and get back in contention after having lost 4-2 in Madrid last week.

Despite enjoying more possession they failed to penetrate a strong defensive barrier and it was Atletico who scored again through Adrian on the hour.

The Madrid side also had Tiago shown a red card in the 79th minute, but Valencia still failedto score a consolation goal, at least.
