Football – Bank Of Valletta Premier League: Must win matches for Mosta and Mqabba today

Malta Independent Friday, 4 May 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The Relegation Pool has now entered its final run-in with the final two matches for Tarxien, Mosta and Mqabba and to a certain extent Hamrun, becoming decisive.

Two matches are being played this evening at the Hibernians Stadium with Mosta facing bottom placed and already relegated Marsaxlokk in the opener, which will be followed by the Mqabba-Qormi clash.

With Tarxien enjoying a three-point lead over Mosta and Mqabba, it is obvious that these two clubs face a must win situation this evening if they are to retain their hopes of saving their status.

Mosta seem to have the easier task against the demoralised Marsalokk, while Mqabba will have to produce their very best against front runners Qormi who confirmed their status last weekend with a 6-0 runaway victory against Hamrun Spartans.

Mqabba will have the advantage of knowing the Mosta-Marsaxlokk match result, but if Mosta win, then Clive Mizzi’s boys will be under a lot of pressure to beat Qormi to keep their hopes alive.
