The sensible decision taken by the Mepa Board on 26 April to reject the strange and dubious recommendation made by the Planning Directorate to approve the proposals for an extension to the Portomaso project shows that the Mepa reform is bearing fruit.
The interventions and points raised by the objectors, and ably expounded by the NGOs present, including FAA, Ramblers Association, The St Julian’s Residents Association, and Zminijietna, were listened to by the Mepa Board, which then refused the proposals to develop 46 apartments and a large private pool on 7,800 square metres of pristine protected land enjoyed today by the general public.
Well done Mepa. Developers no longer have a free run at the expense of the general public.
