The forthcoming edition of the Malta Urban Jungle 113k Triathlon will take place on Sunday 20 May, and will see athletes covering a total distance of 113km consisting of a 1.9k swim, a 90k cycle and a 21km run. The race will be held in Birzebbugia, starting off with the swim in St. George’s Bay.

The race promises to be an exciting one with a number of seasoned athletes as well as newcomers to the sport taking part. Last year’s winners – Michelle Vella Wood and Brian Magri will be defending their titles amidst some strong competition. Athletes who do not feel ready to cover the whole distance can form relay teams.

“The purpose of this event is twofold” explained Charlie Demanuele, Race Director and Organiser. “The first is to encourage athletes to experience Triathlon and the second is to give more seasoned triathletes a taste of longer endurance races, which could potentially prepare them for races such as Ironman”.

This year, all start line participants will be eligible for a draw which will see a lucky athlete take home a Cervelo P1 Triathlon bike. This fantastic prize was made possible with the assistance of Jack Schiavone of The Cyclist, who has been supporting this event for a number of years.

Registration and race briefing will take place on Friday 11 May, at 7pm at Al Fresco restaurant. All those who intend taking part in the race should be present for this event. More information can be obtained via email on [email protected]
