Young Stars started brightly and took the lead in the 5th minute, Marvin Vella hitting in the rebound, after the Hotsticks’ goalkeeper had affected a good save.  

After a period of studious midfield play, when both teams only  managed to create a goal scoring chance each, Hotsticks drew level when they were awarded a penalty stroke in the 30th minute which Keith Scicluna converted in style.  

On the change of ends Hotsticks were awarded two penalty corners in the first five minutes and, as a result of the second one in the 41st minute, Ludolf Pasterhoff shot them ahead.   

They went 3-1 up as a result of another penalty corner  in the 50th minute when Shaun Grima scored. 

Young Stars reacted to try and cut the deficit and Andrew Camilleri came close to scoring on two occasions, but Hotsticks held out to gain a deserved victory in the end.

Juan Sarcia opened the scoring for Qormi in the 8th minute as a result of a penalty corner action but Rabat drew level in the 17th minute when Shawn Falzon scored after they had won their first penalty corner. 

Honours were even at half time as the game ebbed and flowed from end to end.

Qormi applied pressure and won four penalty corners during the first quarter of an hour in the second half.  

They went ahead in the 51st minute when they were awarded a penalty stroke and Juan Sarcia scored  his second goal of the match.  

They scored again in the 53rd minute when Jonathan Aquilina netted to give his team a 3-1 lead.  

This goal seemed to drain Rabat’s resistance and Qormi scored again in the 65th minute through Rudolph Camilleri. 

They rounded off with another goal when Jonathan Borg scored just before the final whistle sounded.
