Irish superstar Ronan Keating and Italian singer songwriter Gigi D’Alessio will be joining tenor Joseph Calleja at his eagerly anticipated annual summer concert on 7 July, which will be held at the Granaries in Floriana.
NnG Promotions and Mr Calleja gave details of the event at a press conference at Palazzo Parisio yesterday that was also addressed by Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Mario de Marco, HSBC Bank Malta CEO Mark Watkinson and Vodafone Malta CEO Balesh Sharma.
The concert will also feature the HSBC Children’s Choir.
Mr Calleja’s annual summer concert in Malta has become a fixture on the Maltese cultural events calendar. His efforts have helped make classical music more accessible to the public and this year’s concert is again expected to attract thousands of music lovers eager to live the electrifying experience.
Dr de Marco said the concert enriches the cultural calendar, which is promoted among tourists. He said the Maltese tenor’s numerous achievements overseas and the high regard in which he is held within international classical music circles make him one of Malta’s greatest ambassadors. In fact, earlier this year he was appointed as Malta’s first cultural ambassador.
Fresh from a great season touring the most important opera theatres around the world, Mr Calleja expressed his eagerness to meet thousands of Maltese music lovers who fill the Granaries in Floriana with their incredible energy year in, year out.
“It’s no secret that my Malta summer concert is the highlight of my season. It is an honour for me to perform at home, and, of course, the opportunity to spend some time in Malta catching up with family and friends is always welcome. This year’s concert will once again offer a fantastic repertoire with a range of well-known arias and popular songs that will definitely draw in the audience.

This year, NnG Promotions have contracted renowned maestro Steven Mercurio to direct the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
