This semi final surpassed all expectations. Hotsticks took the lead in the 15th minute through Silas Plaehn. They could have gone further ahead soon after but then the initiative switched to White Hart. 

The latter won seven penalty corners between the 21st and 34th minute but were not able to transfer their dominance into goals and were still a goal down at half time. 

Midfields dominated in the second half but White Hart equalised in the 63rd minute through Karl Tua and the game went into extra time. 

Both teams played out extra time winning one penalty corner each a penalty shoot out was inevitable.  

The first five penalties left the sides scoring two each with the lead changing hands.

The game then went into sudden death with White Hart missing theirs and Hotsticks scoring their sixth penalty to send them into the final.

Rabat took the lead when Shawn Falzon converted a penalty corner in the 16th minute.   

They hung onto their lead until the 33rd minute when Jonathan Borg equalised for Qormi -  an effort which was considered controversial by Rabat.

Both teams could have scored early in the second half with goalkeepers ensuring to keep their goal intact.  

In the 50th minute, Steve Tanti shot Qormi ahead but Rabat reacted immediately  and won a penalty stroke in the 57th minute which saw Ramon Chircop saving James Azzopardi’s shot brilliantly. 

Rabat pressed further and won two penalty corners but could not capitalise on their pressure and in a swift counter attack, Josef Cuschieri scored Qormi’s third goal to seal the victory and face Hotsticks in the final on Saturday 2 June.

Meanwhile Qormi venture abroad to Slovenia later on in the week to represent Malta in Hockey European Challenge.
