Another race meeting will be held at the Marsa racetrack on Sunday starting at 2pm. Consisting of ten races, this meeting is entirely dedicated to trot racing.

Its main attractions are three heats from the Sette Giugno Cup reserved for Malta’s top flight trotters. Thirty-six participants hailing from seven countries will take part, 16 from Sweden, 12 from France and the remainder from five other European countries.

These include many popular trotters such as recent Skyparks Premier class championship winner Wiss Night Hawk and runner-up Livi Cantona, Gold class championship winner Lover Boy Index, French horses which have already shown their worth such as Nabab du Chatelet, Nono de Crouay and others, Assikura championship runner-up Count of Life, four-time winner Zilver Boko and others.

This championship’s race distance is 2,140m with the first four from each heat making it to the final which will naturally be held on 7 June.

The other races are normal ones for horses in the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper classes over a longer 2,640m distance.

The Gold class race is extremely interesting with a full line-up of horses originating in five different countries. Eleven of these have either won or placed in their last three outings, with some, e.g. Stefan Sufflor, Magnifique As and Delvin Brodde, coming from good performances in the Skyparks Championships finals.

This is the fourth edition of the Sette Giugno Championship (previously called “MRC Premier Trot”), and if past editions and the current protagonists are anything to go by, it promises to be a spectacular one.
