€12,000 In aid of Dar il-Kaptan of Mtarfa

Malta Independent Saturday, 26 May 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Allow me some space to say well done to Community Ġużeppina of Rabat-Mdina for the sum of €12,000 which was raised in aid of Dar il-Kaptan. Last summer, some youths within the L’Isle Adam Band Club organised the second snooker marathon. In 2010, the collection went in aid of the Dar tal-Providenza and in 2011 funds were raised for Dar il-Kaptan. During the three-day marathon, just over €10,500 was collected, which was of great satisfaction for the young people taking part and L’Isle Adam Band Club.

During Holy Week, the Arciconfraternity of St Joseph collected money for Dar il-Kaptan. The collection was made on the initiative of the carriers of the statues of the passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Instead of being spent on flowers, the money raised is now going towards flowers which never dry out. In six months, the Community Ġużeppina collected more than €12,000 in aid of Dar il-Kaptan. It is a nice sign that many people and organisers of the feasts also think of those who are less fortunate.

Congratulations to L’Isle Adam Band Club and the Arciconfraternity of St Joseph of Rabat-Mdina, especially all those who contributed to our call. A call that most organisers responded to by helping households and organisations such as Dar il Kaptan. I wish through this letter to say well done to all staff and volunteers of Dar il-Kaptan for the great sacrifice they make over the whole year. Heartfelt thanks.
