Malta’s under 21 side lost its qualifying match in the UEFA European Championships against Slovenia yesterday, conceding a goal in added time at the Sportni Park in Lendava.
Dejan Lazerevic had given Slovenia the lead past the half hour but Malta managed to draw level through Terence Vella on 73 minutes.
Malta looked capable of obtaining a draw but deep into added time, Podlogar hit the winner for Slovenia to put them three points above Sweden, top of Group 2.
Malta’s next match is against Sweden in Halmstadt next Wednesday.
