Qormi took an early lead when in the 10th minute Owen Piscopo slotted home after a prolonged move following a penalty corner action. 

From then on the chances created were few and far between and by half time the teams shared another five penalty corners but the score remained unchanged.

The second half developed into a ding dong battle in midfield for most of the time although Hotsticks applied early pressure and Ludolf Rassterhoff came close to scoring. 

Midway through the half Qormi forced the Hotsticks goalkeeper, Elton Farrugia, to effect a couple of good saves from penalty corner actions.  

Further on in the game Hotsticks tried hard to find that all elusive equaliser but when the final whistle sounded Qormi ended up winners buy the odd goal, completing a league and knock out double.

The two teams will lock horns again on Saturday, this time for the Super Cup.
