Unbecoming

Malta Independent Thursday, 7 June 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

MP Leo Brincat’s use of SNAFU (TMID 5 June) is vile and very unbecoming. Comments like these do not reflect the borrowed title temporary bestowed by us upon you.

Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our health system is AFU? Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our education system is AFU? Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our social housing programmes are AFU?

Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our present and planned pension schemes are AFU? Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our public transport reform is still AFU?

Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our employment record is AFU? Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that the Drydocks are still AFU? Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our tourism is AFU? Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that our road-construction efforts are AFU?

Do you, dear honourable MP, honestly believe that the incessant efforts to attract foreign industries to replace Baħħar u Sewwi; Iżra w Rabbi; Dirajn il- Maltin; Kisser u Farrak; Aħtaf u Iġri and more, were AFU?

There are other examples similar to the above which I cannot quite recall. However, being an honourable politician, you should be well aware of the ones I missed. Whether you describe them as AFU or not, is a matter I shall leave up to your conscience.

However, it is very obvious, that regardless of your assumed title, you lack political honesty. Otherwise, you will not label everything this administration has achieved as SNAFU. Unless, of course, with all due respect to your title, you are well and truly AFU.
